MARBELLA EXHIBITION
“CULTURAL BRIDGES BETWEEN EUROPE AND ORIENT”
29TH JULY- 5TH SEPTEMBER
HOTEL MARBELLA CLUB
Development towards the modern era began in the 19th century when increasingly bilateral relations between Europe and the Orient with regard to economic interests and colonial politics also brought about reciprocal influences in the arts of both cultural spheres. While in Europe abstract painting was on the rise, artists in the Orient discovered representational painting. European artists such as Eugène Delacroix, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee or August Macke were inspired by the Orient and their work reflected this.
The exhibition was composed by an exquisite selection of paintings, sculptures, design, archive photography and Arabic Calligraphy.
With this in mind, the visitors can perceive Art as a cultural bridge between Europe and Orient.
“Art, a powerful visual language
that transcends borders, space and time, and
contributes to a better understanding
between cultures and nations”
